When a factory needs BESS—and when solar alone is enough

Practical signals that battery energy storage fits a plant, versus cases where rooftop solar should come first.

BESS is not a default add-on for every industrial roof. Some sites need it; many should tighten solar and electrical design first.

Stronger fit

Evening load after sun fades, painful demand charges, or processes hurt by short dips—cold rooms and continuous lines are common examples.

Weaker fit

Heavy daytime load, enough roof area, and a goal that is mainly midday bill reduction. Well-sized solar often delivers first.

Before picking a pack size

Load profile, real backup hours, room/cooling space, and a safe main-board tie-in plan.
